Customer owned and operated - private lighting

Requests for customer owned and operated streetlight projects follow a design and quotation process.

How to apply

To request the network connection of new streetlights in your shire, town or city an Application for unmetered supply form (PDF 28kb) must be submitted to Western Power.

Part B on page three of the application form must be completed and submitted with a plan showing where the point of supply is needed. 

Note: We will supply, install and be responsible only for the point of supply. All cables, fittings and fixtures downstream of the point of supply are the sole responsibility of the customer.

Western Power will send you an acknowledgement letter within 10 working days of receiving your application. If you do not receive a written acknowledgement within this timeframe, please call our Customer Service Centre on 13 10 87

When completing the application, refer to Australian Standard 1158 - lighting for roads and public spaces and include:

  • number of lights required
  • wattage (refer to Australian Standard 1158 for relevant categories)
  • evidence of approval from the relevant local government authority
