The Western Australian distribution connections manual (PDF 6.4mb) is a comprehensive single reference point for establishing a residential and commercial electrical connection of an customers installation to either a Horizon Power or Western Power distribution network.
The Contractor connect scheme (PDF 231kb) is an extension of the Service connect scheme. This guide provides information on the network connection and energisation processes for direct connected equipment up to 100 amps, which must be read in conjunction with the sample management plan (PDF 220kb).
Contractor authorised changeover scheme (PDF 207kb) outlines the requirements under which an accredited electrical contractor may perform changeovers.
This guideline, Portable builders supply pole scheme (PDF 113kb) provides an overview of this temporary builders supply scheme. The scheme enables authorised electrical contractors to connect, energise, disconnect and rotate builders supply poles between building sites supplied via an underground service.
All electrical installation work including minor and maintenance work must be checked and tested by the installing electrical contractor or worker prior to it being connected to the network or where permitted energised. Additionally it is important to record and retain the testing results as part of its installation and commission processes. The nature and type of testing required will depend on the both the type of installation and the voltage configuration. Further information on the requirements can be fond in the WA Distribution Connections Manual.
