Power outages - 12pm - 14 June 2012
Release Date: 14 June 2012
Western Power 's call centre has received more than 260,000 calls since severe storms hit the metro area and South West on Sunday. These calls helped Western Power to identify 7964 incidents, including 3439 hazards - mainly wires down.
Staff are now contacting individual customers to confirm if repairs to the network in their area has restored their power or if they are an individual customer fault needing a private electrician before they can be safely reconnected.
Electricity has been restored to more than 98 per cent of customers whose power supplies were affected by severe storms on Sunday and Tuesday night.
As we enter day five of our expected eight-day restoration period there are still numerous individual customer faults and restoration of these will be time consuming. Some may remain without power for several more days.
Any customers still without power are encouraged to contact Western Power today on 131351
Western Power worked throughout the night and is continuing to attend to remaining faults to restore power to the remaining 2500 customers, more than 1600 of whom are in the South West and Great Southern.
The Busselton to Margaret River transmission line is still being repaired. Western Power expects it to be repaired during today.
Western Power has despatched metropolitan crews to the South West to accelerate the restoration process in the Margaret River to Augusta area, and is focussing on individual customer jobs.
