Ellenbrook power work completes first two stages
Release Date: 17 March 2010
Western Power is part way through the underground cable work in Ellenbrook which aims to resolve the power reliability issues in the area. The first two stages of the project have been completed, including sections one and two.
Project Manager, Belinda Williams said that the Ellenbrook cable work was ahead of schedule and Western Power planned to complete the work by the end of April 2010.
“Once the cable is energised, the chance of further cable faults, which has been the problem plaguing Ellenbrook power supplies, will be very greatly diminished.
“Western Power has also been mindful not to cause further disruption while carrying out the cable replacement.
“The majority of work will be and has so far been carried out ‘live’. While this is more dangerous than working on a de-energised section of underground cable, the crews that carry out this work are highly specialised and are trained to undertake this work.
“Where ever possible work will be done ‘live’ however there will be some circumstances where Western Power will need to turn off the power to do some sections of line.
“As is normal practice, Western Power will give residents and businesses at least three days notice of any planned power interruption,” Ms Williams said.
Should Western Power have to carry out work on your property and damage is sustained to reticulation or other parts of your verge, Western Power contractors will leave cards containing contact details to ensure repairs are carried out.
