Western Power responds to bushfires in Toodyay area
Western Power is working with FESA to gain access to fire damaged areas near Toodyay and to restore power in the wake of yesterday’s bushfire.
Western Power estimates 120 poles have been destroyed in the fire and 50 transformers. They will need to be replaced before power can be restored to customers in the Toodyay area.
Approximately 200 customers are currently without power in the Toodyay area, as far north as Nottingham Rd, as far south as Hoddeywell Rd, as far east as Dumbarton Rd and as far west as Morangup Rd. Western Power is unable at this stage to connect generators and restore power to customers due to damage to the network.
Western Power expects some customers to be without power for a number of days.
Western Power is in Toodyay awaiting access to the fire affected area so that a more accurate picture of the damage can be ascertained and the restoration effort can begin.
A Western Power communications centre will be set up in the Wester Power caravan in the Toodyay area tomorrow to provide up to date information on power restoration efforts as they unfold.
