Extension of fuel switching program for Denmark and Walpole

Release Date: 07 October 2009

As part of the Green Town Project, Western Power has extended its fuel switching program for residents in the Denmark and Walpole areas. Residents can claim a $400 rebate from Western Power when they switch from an electric hot water system to a gas boosted solar hot water system.

Replacing an electric hot water system with a gas boosted system can save individuals up to $500 on their annual electricity bill and 4 tonnes of greenhouse gas per year.

Western Power’s Green Town Manager, Mr Andrew Blaver said that the program has been running successfully for 4 months, and as funds are still available for the program, Western Power has decided to extend the rebate until 30 April 2010.

“Together with current State and Federal rebates residents can save up to $4000 off the price of a new system. On average a new system pays for itself in about 3 years.

“When you consider the potential savings and the fact that these rebates will not be around forever, there’s really never been a better time to make the switch.” said Mr Blaver.

If you are interested in participating in the program contact your local solar hot water system provider or visit www.westernpower.com.au/greentown.
