Bush fire downs power poles and cuts power to Nannup
Release Date: 16 January 2009
After receiving a request from FESA, Western Power has isolated the powerline that supplies power to Nannup.
Currently 918 customers located approximately 10km west of Bridgetown townsite are without power. Nannup township is also without power.
Approximately 30-35 poles have been damaged by the bushfire and will need to be replaced.
Western Power is currently in the process of switching the network around to reduce the customers affected by the bushfire and expects to have Nannup township back on by this evening.
Should there be significant damage to assets, which will require lengthy repair times, Western Power will look to bring in temporary generators to main townships to help restore power faster.
Western Power expects that some outer lying areas may have lengthy delays to power restoration. Once Western Power is given clearance by FESA to inspect equipment a more accurate estimation of power restoration can be given.
Updates will be provided when more information is available.
