Wooroloo fire brigade in the money
Release Date: 10 March 2008
Western Power has continued the support of volunteer bushfire brigades by providing the Wooroloo volunteer bushfire brigade with funding for the purchase of essential equipment.
Western Power provided the Wooroloo brigade with $3600 for the purchase of a retractable hose reel.
Western Power spokesperson Mr Kim Cooper said Western Power was pleased to provide the brigade with funding for the equipment.
“This equipment will assist the brigade to fight fires more effectively and safely,” Mr Cooper said.
“The retractable hose reel will enable the brigade to move equipment quickly with a minimum of effort, which is very important when battling unpredictable and at times dangerous bushfires,” Mr Cooper added.
Mr Cooper said Western Power was proud to sponsor the Wooroloo Brigade.
“The volunteers protect lives and property, including Western Power infrastructure, allowing people to carry on normally with their lives during bushfire season.”
Western Power is providing $80,000 worth of equipment to volunteer bushfire-fighting units as part of a three year, $300,000 commitment to volunteer bushfire fighting groups and FESA.
The sponsorship provides a $5000 grant for equipment at volunteer bushfire fighting groups.
The funding is part of Western Power’s bushfire sponsorship scheme launched in November 2007. All funding for 2007/08 has now been allocated, the next round of grants will be open again in the second half of 2008.
