Toodyay benefits from bushfire sponsorship

Release Date: 01 February 2008

Western Power has provided the Coondle Nunine and Julimar volunteer fire fighting brigades with essential fire fighting equipment as part of its sponsorship of Volunteer Bush Fire Brigades operating in the south of WA, the region covered by Western Power’s network.

Western Power provided the Coondle Nunine brigade with $4572 for the purchase of office equipment and $1654 for whiteboards for the Julimar brigade to assist in their fire fighting efforts.

Western Power’s spokesperson Chris Cox said Western Power was proud to sponsor the brigades.

“Western Power is pleased to support the excellent work done by the Coondle Nunine and Julimar volunteer bushfire brigades,” Mr Cox said.

“This equipment will assist the brigade to continue the outstanding work they do to protect their local community,” he added.

The funding is part of Western Power’s $300,000 sponsorship of FESA over the next three years.

This year Western Power’s sponsorship will provide $80,000 for fire fighting equipment to volunteer bushfire brigades working within the Western Power network.

All volunteer bush fire fighting brigades from within the Western Power network are eligible for up to $5,000 worth of equipment under the sponsorship arrangement.

“The sponsorship is part of Western Power’s ongoing sponsorship commitment to volunteer groups in to regional WA,” Mr Cox said.
