Wet weather conditions across the metropolitan area have caused power disruptions due to a series of traffic crashes and pole top fires.

More than 19,000 properties are without power in several suburbs including Yokine, High Wycombe, Forrestfield, Gosnells and Landsdale.

Traffic crashes occurred this afternoon in Hammond Park, Langford and Leeming, bringing down poles and lines and interrupting power.

Some power supplies have already been restored.

Light widespread rain has caused 16 pole top fires.  When moisture combines with dust build up on pole top equipment it enables electricity to track across the insulator and cause a fire.

Western Power crews are attending to ensure each area is safe and to restore power as quickly as possible.
