Planting continues for Bibra Lake and Leeming residents

Release Date: 11 April 2007

12,000 seedlings planted along the Roe Highway reserveWestern Power would like to get in contact with residents who have not yet finalised plans with SERCUL for visual screening of the Roe Highway transmission line.

The South East Regional Centre for Urban Landcare (SERCUL) is conducting the planting on Western Power’s behalf in the suburbs of Leeming and Bibra Lake.

Planting for residential properties started last year with over 12,000 seedlings planted along the Roe Highway reserve.  Western Power has also planted a variety of verge trees to visually screen the line from local streets and backyards.

Western Power’s Project Officer Gillian Lynch said that SERCUL had tried to contact all affected residents in Bibra Lake and Leeming, however a number of residents did not responded to their communications.

“It is important that any customer who wants visual screening from this transmission line, and is not already in talks with us, to contact us immediately.

“The end of May is the cut-off date for screening submissions.

“Anyone who was contacted by John Cleary, the contractor originally organising planting on Western Power’s behalf, and has not had any follow-up communication from SERCUL or Western Power should contact us,” Ms Lynch said.
