Fire damage cuts power
Release Date: 05 February 2007
Fire surrounding Mandurah and the Halls Head region has caused widespread power outages.
The fires at North Yunderup, Greenfields and Parkland have affected three transmission lines and cut power to 56,000 properties.
The fires are currently uncontrolled and Western Power crews are unable to access the area to assess the damage to equipment.
Western Power will give an estimated restoration time once FESA gives the all clear for Western Power to enter the area.
In other fires around the south west; Dwellingup has mobile generators supplying emergency power after the main line into the town was damaged by fire, Western Power says 100 poles have been burnt.
In Toodyay, 6 poles have been burnt, but power supplies have not been affected.
In Williams, 6 poles are being replaced after they were lost to the fire, customer interruptions have been minimal.
Western Power will issue regular media updates.
