Bushfire in Helena Valley

4.30pm update
Western Power has now been able to fully restore power to properties affected by the bushfire in Helena Valley.
3.50pm update
Western Power has now been able to restore power to 800 of the 2,500 properties affected by the bushfire in Helena Valley.
Patrols of the powerline are currently underway which will determine if the fire has damaged any of our equipment. One third of the powerline has now been examined for damage.
So far no damage has been found, and if this is the case for the remainder of the line power supplies should be restored within the next hour.
2.45pm update
Due to a bushfire in Helena Valley Western Power turned off a main powerline at 2.30pm, affecting 2,500 residents in parts of Helena Valley, Boya, Hazelmere, Bellview and Koongamia for safety reasons.
Western Power, in consultation with FESA determined this was the best course of action, allowing fire fighters and water bombers safe access to the fire.
Once the risk to the powerline has passed, Western Power will work with FESA to gain access to the area and assess any damage to equipment as quickly as possible.
