Bunbury set for reliability upgrade

Release Date: 20 December 2007

Bunbury's electricity supply is in the process of being upgraded with over $2 million of works to be completed in 2008.

Western Power spokesperson, Marisa Chapman said the project was important for the future of Bunbury.

"The work represents a major network re-enforcement and will enable further development in Bunbury and the surrounding areas," Ms Chapman said.

A $1 million project to reinforce supply of the Bunbury CBD and Dallyup will be completed in early 2008.

"People may have seen Western Power crews working near the Eelup Roundabout, opening trenches to lay underground power cables for the project," Ms Chapman said.

A separate $900,000 project along Roberston Drive will also be completed in early 2008 and will include the installation of approximately one kilometer of underground line to support the Carey Park residential area and Halifax industrial area.

Bunbury is one of WA's fastest growing areas and this project will facilitate forecast growth.

There have been over 2000 new metered electricity connections made in Bunbury since 1 January 2007.
