Belridge Senior High School win Solar Model Car Challenge

Release Date: 19 October 2007

The solar car challenge was held in Forrest Place over the last two days, with the grand final raced at midday today.

Winthrop Baptist College (Solar Express), a new entrant this year, finished second followed by Aquinas College’s car two (Nemphis Mensa) and Belridge car one (SunRise) finishing fourth.

It’s a bag of victories for the Belridge High School teams who have now managed to hold on to the State Title crown since 2004.

All four teams travel to Adelaide to compete in the national titles on October 27/28.

Aquinas College’s car one (Mike Couanis) was the fastest qualifier, the car two team from Guildford Grammar car two (GGS2) won the best team effort award, best team poster was awarded to Girrawheen Senior High School (Orions) and Best New School presented to Winthrop Baptist College.

A total of 40 cars from 22 schools competed in the two-day event.
